Chennai Super Kings win the IPL Website Play-Off
With
the IPL play-offs beginning today, I thought it was fitting to see how the official
websites of the top 4 teams fare, with respect to content and presentation.
Though my loyalties sway evenly between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders for the matches, it is very clear that the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, win the website play-off hands-down with brilliant visual appeal, different layout, creative quality and some interesting interactive content. What’s more, it doesn’t even run into a hundred scrolls!
Where all other team sites have the customary (and predictable) news, photos, player profiles, schedules, downloads and social plugs, CSK’s visually rich pages boast of engaging content and contests to keep fans interested.
Fans can blog about CSK’s matches and post on the Super Blog contest, the Super Caption contest provides users with images that they can caption with witty one-liners. They also have an association with Indiatimes where they are pulling-in on-field action videos on their ‘Super TV’.
The website is replete with amazing high res images (from matches and shoots for their branded Super Gear), which are also used as wallpapers on the site.
Check out the websites and decide for yourself.
