Best of 2012: Rich Media This Year

As the year draws to a close, I thought it would be fitting to look at some of the most special rich media executions, advertiser and category drivers from last year.

Starting with ground-breaking rich media from 2012. Executions that broke the mould, had a great idea to begin with which went in tandem with what the brand had to say and flawless backend execution. Definitely not ‘inspired’ and rehashed material we have seen before.

I have picked one execution each from Yahoo!, MSN and Youtube; key publishers that advertisers have favored for their high impact rich media in 2012.

The following list is in no particular order but they are all my favorites.

Samsung Galaxy Note on Yahoo! India:
Samsung and Yahoo! India were an advertiser and publisher match made in rich media heaven in 2012, but my favorite (very tough call) was the Galaxy Note rendition. Super stuff!

The Renault Pulse Glider on MSN India:
This one stood out and was a well-executed. First-of-its-kind MSN Glider in India.

Samsung Smart TV on Youtube India:
A feature led execution that shows us how interactivity can be woven into a simple masthead banner and that every Youtube Masthead doesn’t need to be a flash execution which settles with a video.

Breakthrough New Attempt: PepsiCo Slice
Led by the media agency, PepsiCo’s Slice attempted a never-done before rich media rendition where celebrity endorser Katrina Kaif moves from the home page of one publisher to another. Though I was a part of team that worked on this, it’s not the only reason for this selection and I hope you will agree.
